senior progressive dinner: RSVP needed

Dear Seniors and Parents -

The Snyder, Lutz, and Furman families have graciously volunteered to host a progressive dinner for the FSP seniors on Saturday, May 19, starting at 5:00 p.m. This will be our last group get-together before graduation, so besides fun, food, and fellowship, will provide an opportunity to go over details for the big event. Please get back to me right away as to whether you can participate - it would be important for at least one parent to be present with your senior. We will be getting more information to you regarding food to bring, etc. For now we're asking that you reserve this date on your calendar (or let me know if you have a conflict).

Thanks!
Clara Boisvert

More NYC Info

Dear Graduates & Parents:

Thanks to all those who faithfully handed in their checks for the show on short notice. So far there are 30 people going to see the show. I’ll be ordering the Beauty & the Beast tickets tomorrow, Monday. If you plan to go, but have not given me your $, please call me H-301-926-2310 or Cell 301-602-8845 and leave a message before 10AM Monday 1/29.

Please pass the word around that any FSP 2007 graduate may still join us for the NY trip, even if they do not plan to see Beauty & the Beast. We plan to create optional itineraries during that time.

The current plan is to have parent leaders take a group of about 6-8 to different places depending on the feedback we receive from you on what you’d like to see and where you want to go. Please go to this website http://www.tailoredtours.com/new_york_city , view the walking tour options, and then e-mail me ywyzga@comcast.net or add your preference to this Blog. In order to continue planning, we will need each participant to make their decision about the following:

1. Going to NY or not going? (Let me know even if you are not going. We want to know you’ve received all this info) Contact me by Friday, 2/2
Only those who have not given me a check for Broadway tickets need to contact me about this.

2. If you are going, what is your walking tour preference from the selection at tailored tours? I need this info by Friday, 2/2

3. If you are a parent going, are you willing to drive? If yes, how many total people can you fit in your vehicle with a seat belt? Need this info by Friday, 2/2

4. If you are a parent going, are you willing to lead a group? Let me know by Friday, 2/2

5. Any parent going, do you have a AAA membership? Again by Friday 2/2

Thanks! Looking forward to the next planning phase,
Mrs. Wyzga

NY Trip -- time sensitive

Dear Graduates & Parents:

We will be ordering the Beauty & the Beast Broadway tickets. For all those wanting to go, please give me a check made payable to Yvonne Wyzga for $60/person for each ticket desired by Sunday 1/28/07. You may drop off your check into my blue pick up box on my front doorstep (behind the white columns) in a sealed envelope or you may mail to Yvonne Wyzga, 8604 Calypso Lane, Gaithersburg, MD. 20879 (mail by Friday AM latest, to ensure I receive by Sat.). You may also give to me at church. I go to the 9AM service and will be in the lobby near the information desk 10 minutes before and after the service.

Someone asked if the $190 projected expenses include the Broadway tickets. The answer is yes.
Click on the following link to check out some possible itineraries and let me know which ones you are most interested in. These are not the only options we are considering. They are just ideas to get you thinking what types of things you’d like to see.

Let me hear from you soon.

Senior Trip

Dear Seniors and Parents:

I'm willing to help facilitate a trip to NY for the FSP Senior Class. I'm looking for your ideas of what you would like to do while in NY. I checked into the Wicked show, but it was sold out into July. Beauty & The Beast is a fantastic show! Steve & I saw it on Broadway and it was so much better than the one that came recently to the National theatre. So let me know if you’d like to see that show.(We would need to order ASAP I’m shooting for Thursday 1/5 if NY is a go). The dates we are looking to go are Friday April 27th-Saturday April 28t. The dates were chosen to be after the Godspell show for obvious reasons plus a weekend that had no other CLC family meeting, 10:31 meetings and avoids Spring breaks of CLC & MC, which after all that didn’t leave many options left.

One idea is to leave Friday afternoon after 3pm travel to Red Bank, NJ (~4 hours )or thereabouts(staying in NJ would keep hotel costs down). We could have dinner on the boardwalk or in red bank (lots of good restaurants there) take a walk on a Jersey boardwalk or beach. In the morning, we could take the Red Bank train into the city. We would arrive around 10Am see NY for about 3 hours. Travel groups could be formed around desired itineraries. At 2PM we could catch the matinee Broadway show of Beauty & the Beast ($85 premium seats, $60 rear Mezzanine, $40 too far away to see). There could be an optional itinerary for those not wanting to see Beauty & the Beast. We could meet for dinner at 5P in NY or take the train back & have dinner at Broadway Burgers in Red bank before heading back home, arriving in Gaithersburg around 1AM. We are trying to keep this cost to be less than $190. We are still looking into transportation options. The vans at CLC are not available. Got any ideas?

So what I need to hear form you on is: Do you want to NY? If so, how many parents would be going? If NY is not where you would like to go, please give me some other ideas that include no more than I night away (Friday-Sat.) & cost less than $180 per person. I'm hoping to get your feedback on the above ideas by this Monday 1/23/07. I'm assuming the objectives are to do a memorable event together plus have FUN and of course be open to whatever God’s agenda may be! You could e-mail me privately (YWyzga@comcast.net)if you prefer not to comment on this Blog.

Looking forward to your responses,
Mrs.Wyzga :)

Your Graduation Speaker

Seniors, you have a Grad Speaker!

Bob Donohue has responded to our invitation with heartfelt thanks and was overwhelmed that you would even consider him. By the sovereignty of God, he already knows that he does not have teaching responsibility that weekend at his church in Ashburn, and thereby is free to speak at your graduation.

So, his question to me (and I'll put it out to you all for a response), is: What kind of message would you all like to hear from him? He'd like some feedback on this, so can you help me out here?

God is good,
Mrs. Hoover

Christmas Party

Hey!

Hope everyone's doing well. Here's the info for the Christmas party from Mrs. Hoover!!

It's going to be on Saturday, December 30th, at the Emelio's house. The time is from 6:30-10 p.m. Parents are welcome, but due to space, we don't have room for siblings to attend. Guys, please bring a dessert, and g i r l s bring appetizers.

Also, come ready to make a decision on your grad speaker - we've got to get this one resolved pretty soon!

RSVP here. And spread the word around for those who don't check this much anymore... make sure they get on and let us know if they can come!

Mrs. Hoover

Next Event

Hi all. Welcome back from Thanksgiving break. I just figured we'd get a head start on our next event and come up with a few ideas now. Some previously suggested ideas were doing a big dinner or swing dancing.

Movie Night

Okay everyone, Taylor has proposed having a movie night at his house this Friday the 17th at 7:30 (for you Godspell people, rehearsal ends at 5:30). So who would be able to come to that? What movie would everyone like to watch? We could watch an action movie, a comedy, a war movie, a fantasy movie...it's up to you guys. Let's throw some movies into the ring.

By the way, Ice Age 2 is out on video now...just a thought.

Corn Maze and Future Events

Well guys, it looks like going to a corn maze isn't going to happen. Apparently, all the corn mazes in the area have already closed down for the winter. So... what are some other good ideas of events we can do? There was some talk earlier about a movie night. In addition, it would be great to hear what times would work best for you.

If your wondering what I'm doing on here, I've volunteered to coordinate activities for the class. I'm thinking we should do something at least every two months. Also, if we could get an event planning team of maybe three or four people that would be great. Responsibility will most likely be pretty small and would vary depending on the event.

A new speaker...

Okay guys, we're back to soliciting your ideas about your graduation speaker. We'd like everyone to post again regarding your top choices for speaker. We definitely will need to get on this as soon as we're able. Looking forward to seeing your choices! Mrs. Hoover

Don't forget, some potential choices could include Mark Dever, Al Mohler, John Piper, Chip Grange, Bob Donahue, or Mark Altrogee; here's a rule of thumb, though: in your list, feel free to reach for the stars (i.e Al Mohler) but give at least one that's not quite so lofty (i.e. Mark Altrogee).
